The Founder, President and permanent Head of the Law Firm. Mastermind, tutor, mentor, innovator. Teacher and assistant professor of the Civil Law Chair of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (since 1998), Director General of Civil Law Heritage charity foundation (since 2004).
Speaking about his professional incarnations, Ernest Mirchevich puts the word "lawyer" first for a good reason, and only then puts: "The President of the Law Firm, Teacher of Civil and International Private Law". Mr. Gramatskiy is not a classic type of managing partner of a law firm, who usually deals with purely strategic management, having left legal practice. He does not abandon the current legal context even for a moment, leading the most complex client projects on a daily basis, conducting intensive negotiations in different countries of the world, studying memoranda and voluminous analytics, closing major deals, and personally defending clients of the Firm.
He personally heads the Real Estate and Private Advocacy practices at the Firm, and supervises Construction, Energy and Natural Resources, Media and Advertising industries. He also has extensive and recognized expertise in Business Building practice (Corporate Law, M&A), Business Protection, Taxation, Negotiation and Mediation practices, IT industry, Financial Law. This list least of all describes the universal expertise of the President of the Firm, who personifies his encyclopedic approach to management of professional knowledge and skills at the Firm. To a certain extent, Ernest Mirchevich has something to do with every project supported and closed by the Firm, and it is difficult to name an area or specialization where he would not practice with a high degree of qualification.
The name of Ernest Gramatskiy is widely known far beyond the legal services market; by working closely with clients and partners from different industries and focusing on their industry specifics, E. M. Gramatskiy has gained the reputation of a trusted counselor in real estate, construction and development, trade and retail, financial services, media and advertising, hospitality, energy, and information technologies markets.
In the Law Firm, he developed and implemented his own quality control system, tutoring (mentoring) system, systems of advanced training, recruitment, he is the ideologist of management, financial, marketing and PR strategies at the Firm.
International legal handbooks note that Mr. Gramatskiy "provides world class legal services". "Mr. Ernest Gramatskiy provides bespoke legal solutions», – states The Legal 500 Europe, Middle East & Africa (2017 editorial).
The President likes asking his lawyers: "What new things have you tried lately?" – We all need to learn and to try something new to grow.
Ernest Mirchevich has repeatedly noted that factors, often considered minor in business environment, in fact, determine a lot, and relations within the team are as important as profit. An excessively critical approach can hinder those who are looking for new ideas. The main thing is to give people more chances to develop themselves and to improve their lives.
"My management philosophy is simple. There's no other time like the present. All we can do is benefit from entropy – the way that artists do it".
"I prefer acting in a straightforward manner, to speak and listen to the truth. If anything unforeseen happens, I want to learn about it as soon as possible in order to try to help".
"Well, I should probably admit that I do not have the answers to all the questions, – the President says. –But I believe that a confidential private communication is the most useful tool for both a lawyer and a businessman, allowing you to make your point, and it has never let me down. That is why I prefer negotiating future decisions. This does not mean that everyone must reach agreement. It is just necessary to be inerested in the point of view of another person, to ask a lot of questions – and then make a decision. I like listening to other people's opinions. I am convinced that heads and subordinates should actively communicate with each other, and this requires frequent meetings with clients and colleagues. If anyone thinks that I'm not doing everything for this, just let me know".
Ernest Gramatskiy believes in people, freedom and private market, at the same time, he sees his true professional purpose in protecting his clients from lawlessness and abuse of power by the state, standing guard over the rights of a personality and private business. For this very purpose, as early as in 1999, E. M. Gramatskiy founded the non-governmental organization Entrepreneurship Protection Foundation. Its stated mission consists not of abstract ideals, but of a daily volitional life program: "We strive to learn and change ourselves – and thus make the world around us a little better. We want to become aesthetically and ethically impeccable – by means available to us, that is, by providing demanded and socially important legal assistance, protecting freedom, as well as providing law and justice for our clients. Leadership means principles that have become actions. This is our way; this is our professional mission".
Ernest Mirchevich is convinced that firms based on common values and standards, whose compliance is being controlled, operate more efficiently. Nowadays, it is important not only what this or that company does, but also the way it does its business. Likewise, people who act on principle are more likely to fulfill their promises than those who act only for the sake of future rewards.
Strategy is the way, not the destination. A true leader is always dedicated to his/her inner direction and life values: "It is unthinkable for me to act otherwise", – says Mr. Gramatskiy. – "We, lawyers, all suffer from hypercontrol syndrome. I also do not like initiatives, whose results I am not ready to monitor. If I undertake a project, I will certainly control the implementation of the planned issues. I never give my word, if I cannot keep it".
Knowledge of the law and rules of life, mental qualities and mental agility are all important, but these are more common than courage, persistence and determination. "The last three qualities will always be the most rewarded and will determine future success", – believes Ernest Mirchevich, – The main lesson is the following: the main components of success for both people and organizations are persistence, determination and an unquenchable thirst to reach new heights. Throughout life..."
He is fond of aeronautics, golf, fine arts, heraldry.
Life creed: "Speak, so that I may see you".
